Assignment activity

SGU conducts commission activities that are closely related to our products and services. This may involve investigations, surveys and inventories, consulting advice, compilations of geological information, training and analytical activities.

One of SGU's main tasks is to provide geological information for society's needs in the short and long term, which is work that is mainly financed with state grants. In some cases when products and services need to be adapted for external users, this is done for a fee. The main purpose of the assignment is to ensure that SGU's often unique information and expertise are put to best use, and that it contributes to achieving the goals that the government has set for SGU.

SGU can offer a wide range of services such as consulting advice, investigations, in-depth investigations and inventories, analyses, compilations of geological information, training and seminars.

Externally funded assignments may consist of another authority, a municipality or a company needing access to particularly in-depth information or special knowledge about the geological conditions in an area, for example to obtain a good basis for decision-making. Such special geological surveys that are not justified by a general need are paid for by the client, with full cost coverage and are carried out as time permits.

Unit managers are responsible for assignments within their area of operation.
