Welcome to Geointro

Geointro is a study platform on the topic of mining and the environment aimed to prepare you for the international training programme "Mine water and mine waste management".

Below you will find a number of lectures introducing you to exploration, mining, environmental impacts and governance. There are a total of 6 lectures available. Every lecture has reading material, figures and study questions to test yourself. Some lectures have videos you can watch.

Begin with the first lecture, "Lecture 1: An introduction to minerals, ore and exploration", found below. Then continue with the next lecture, and so on. When you are done with the lectures you can test what you have learned by doing the quiz found at the bottom of the page. The quiz randomizes questions from the lectures to test what you know about mining and the environment. Once you complete the quiz with full marks you are fully prepared to take on the international training programme "Mine water and mine waste management"!
