  • New record for Swedish ore production

    2013 was a record year for the Swedish ore production reaching almost 80 million tons, an increase of ten percent since 2012. Iron ore production has the largest increase, despite the fact that there are currently only five iron ore mines in operation compared to the record year of 1974 when there were 30 mines.

  • New Director-General

    Lena Söderberg takes office as new Director General at the Geological Survey of Sweden on January 20th. Previously Lena has been the Managing Director of The Swedish Water and Wastewater Association, SWWA. She is the Chairman of the Board of Swedish Forest Agency and a member of the Advisory Council for Swedish Energy Agency.
