Field work in the Barents project completed
SGU's field work in the Norrbotten area, which began in 2012, was completed in August. This year alone, 2 800 km2 have been mapped and eleven reports published in the project.
Eleven new reports have been published this year within the Barents project.
The reports contain:
- integrated geological and geophysical studies,
- age determination results,
- results from the magnetotelluric measurements made between Kiruna and Vittangi,
- and interpretation of the new airborne geophysical VTEM- measurements were made north of Kiruna.
This summer's field work, which is the last one in the Barents project ended in August. During the summer of 2015 a total area of 2 800 km2 has been mapped in southern Norrbotten. The results will provide new bedrock geological information, including databases and maps. Gravity measurements were carried out during the winter and summer time to increase existing information in order to obtain higher resolution in gravity data in the area.
