The Map Generator – now in English
Now we launch an English version of our popular Map Generator on our web site. The Map Generator enables you to download your own PDF maps showing Sweden's bedrock, Quaternary deposits, groundwater, marine geology, till geochemistry and geophysics.
You choose the area from maps showing areal coverage of geological information. From April 2009 SGU uses the new coordinate system, SWEREF99, and naturally it is used for the Map Generator as well.
The Map Generator is one of the services we use to achieve our most important goal – to increase and widen the use of geological information. The Map Generator offers a selection of SGU's database content and the maps are automatically generated, with legends and short descriptive texts. Some of the maps in the Map Generator are less detailed than our printed maps. We continually work with improving the technology and the underlying databases to deliver higher quality seamless maps. In addition, more of our geological themes will subsequently be added to the Map Generator.
