Map Generator

Using our Map Generator, you can produce and download your own maps, covering the bedrock, Quaternary deposits, groundwater, marine geology, geochemistry or geophysics of Sweden.

You yourself choose the type of map you want, for example a bedrock or Quaternary map, and the geographical area it is to cover. To assist you, there are overviews of the areas for which relevant geological data are available.

Ordering and delivery

Once you have made your choice, you place an order via the Map Generator. The map is then created automatically, with legends and short descriptive texts. After that, a message is sent to your e-mail address with a link to the map, which is supplied in PDF format.

Delivery is normally within two hours, but may take longer if large numbers of orders are received at the same time. Map files are held on our server for five days, after which they are removed for reasons of space.

Map viewers

It is also possible to access geological information held by SGU via our map viewers. These show some of the geological data we are able to offer. Using them, you can see, for example, what areas we have mapped and what types of data we have collected. You can also get an overall picture of the country’s bedrock, Quaternary deposits and groundwater.
